Oregon's pristine forest and desert wilderness areas are natural treasures. Home to rare animal and plant species, they are the source of the cleanest drinking water for many Oregonians and our most untouched habitat for salmon. Yet, less than four percent of all the lands in our state are permanently protected as wilderness. This year, we have the opportunity to preserve more of wild Oregon by designating new Wilderness on Mount Hood, in southwest Oregon’s spectacular Copper Salmon, and eastern Oregon’s Badlands and Spring Basin. These special places will offer an enduring legacy of natural beauty, important wildlife habitat, and unmatched wilderness recreation activities. Join the effort to protect Oregon’s wilderness treasures. Wilderness is our common ground.
